Vice President

Robert Lopez is an independent investigative reporter. He was part of a team of Times reporters that won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.

Laurie Ochoa is general manager of Food at the Los Angeles Times. Previously, she was a deputy editor in Entertainment and Arts, overseeing the paper’s Sunday Calendar section. Prior she was editor in chief of the L.A. Weekly, executive editor of Gourmet magazine, the food editor of the L.A. Times and co-founder of Slake: Los Angeles, a journal of narrative reporting, essays, interviews fiction, poetry and art. She co-authored the book “Nancy Silverton’s Breads From La Brea Bakery” and has two James Beard Awards for her journalism.

Daffodil Altan is an Emmy-winning director, producer and correspondent for FRONTLINE, PBS's flagship investigative documentary series.

Jacqueline Garcia is an L.A.-based journalist with over 10 years of experience covering a myriad of issues ranging from immigration and politics, to health and education. A vast majority of her reporting has focused on issues that affect the Latino population. She is currently a reporter for La Opinión, one of the largest Spanish-language newspapers in the United States.

Daniel Hernandez is Food Editor at the Los Angeles Times. Previously, he was a culture reporter for the newspaper. He has also worked as a Styles reporter for The New York Times, editor of L.A. Taco, and Mexico bureau chief for Vice News. A native of the San Diego-Tijuana border region, Hernandez got his start in journalism as an L.A. Times intern, and as a scholarship recipient of CCNMA.

Luz Villarreal is a product of CCNMA. In high school, she attended the organization’s Urban Journalism Workshop at Cal State Northridge. She received CCNMA scholarships in college. She spent her first year working as a reporter for the Minority Editorial Training program at the Los Angeles Times. After 8 years in print, Luz transitioned to broadcast news as a producer. She’s worked at Dateline NBC and most recently, CBS Evening News. Luz is now the director of communications for the LA Opera.

Joe Rodriguez. After 35 years in newspaper journalism, Joe is writing a screenplay on the deck of his new home in Lake Arrowhead, Calif. He was a columnist for the San Jose Mercury News, an editorial writer at the Hartford Courant and reporter for the Riverside Press-Enterprise and Modesto Bee.
